This paper mainly concerns the theme of environmental control, the instruments chosen for the collection and measurement, the interpretation of the data collected and their use for the purposes of the restoration project of the decorative apparatus of the Mirror Gallery and Diana Room in the Royal Palace of Genoa. Monitoring on an annual basis in the monumental environments began in November 2016 and was completed at the end of October 2017, although the sensors were subsequently kept in the same positions to carry out any other analysis. The data acquisition and interpretation phases led to the construction of a "predictive" model, validated on the basis of data obtained from monitoring. In addition, the evaluation of the environmental conditions throughout the year, together with historical studies as well as diagnostic investigations, have led to useful indications and suggestions during the design phase of the restoration of the decorative apparatus and the proposal of actions to be taken in case of important variations of the monitored parameters (management project).
