Orte und Erinnerung: Eine Kartografie des Israelkorpus. Zur Einleitung

The project 'Orte und Erinnerung: Eine Kartografie des Israelkorpus' aims at mapping the places mentioned in the oral narratives of the so-called Israel Corpus - a collection of narrative biographical interviews with Israelis who emigrated from German-speaking countries to Palestine/Israel mostly in the 1930s. The focus here is not so much on the geographical determination of the places, but on their function within the narrative memory work of the persons during the narration, which is closely intertwined with the emotional dimension. This introduction briefly outlines the underlying approaches to the inter- and transdisciplinary studies presented in this volume, which deal with the interplay of places and memories: The approaches cover linguistics, history and cultural studies, with a special focus on perspectives of conversation as well as narrative analysis and oral history research.
