Environmental ethics and bioethics as they have been, for the most part, conceived up to now, seem to have run out of steam. The positions that have emerged and the relationship between ethical theories in general and specific aspects of bioethical or environmental relevance1 are clear. The debate seems to be crystallised on a theoretical level and the relevant issues take on a legal and political characterisation. A new systemic and non-reductionist approach appears necessary to build a ‘new alliance’ between ethics, politics and economics in order to address, in all its complexity, the fundamental issue of sustainability as a factor of innovation and improvement of the quality of life in the present and for future generations.

Abstract
Environmental ethics and bioethics as they have been, for the most part, conceived up to now, seem to have run out of steam. The positions that have emerged and the relationship between ethical theories in general and specific aspects of bioethical or environmental relevance1 are clear. The debate seems to be crystallised on a theoretical level and the relevant issues take on a legal and political characterisation. A new systemic and non-reductionist approach appears necessary to build a ‘new alliance’ between ethics, politics and economics in order to address, in all its complexity, the fundamental issue of sustainability as a factor of innovation and improvement of the quality of life in the present and for future generations.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
