Un bosco sacro in città: Nostra Signora del Monte

Articulated is the history of the forest adjacent to the ancient complex of S. Maria del Monte, located on the slopes of the hill, overlooking the most densely populated districts of Genoa. The reconstruction through archive material of the fundamental steps of its transformation from a source of income for the Congregazione Mortariense to a place of retreat and prayer for the followers of St. Francis makes it possible to describe the changing landscape of an ancient extra-urban area strategically located on the communications side, which with its integration into the fabric of the city provides evidence of the wild character that has always characterised the urban context of Genoa.
