This paper proposes a new SAR reduction technique for a dual band Planar Inverted F Antenna (PIFA) operating at GSM 900 MHz and at DCS 1800 MHz. Loaded U-edges surrounding ground plane to control the current density. The optimal structure reduces SAR of the PIFA by 60% at 900 MHz and 70% at 1800 MHz. The technique is validated using time domain simulation.
