This essay explores the role and evolution of satirical dialogue in Jacobin-era journalism in Genoa, with a focus on the «Difensore della Libertà». Through a systematic survey of texts and a historical-editorial framing, it highlights how dialogic forms, often drawing on theatrical conventions and the Pasquinade tradition, became a key tool of revolutionary propaganda and political education between 1797 and 1799. The study examines the rhetorical strategies and formal variations of these texts, identifying a distinctive Genoese practice that blends satire, popular pedagogy and dramatic fiction. Particular attention is given to the contributions of figures such as Sauli and Marrè, whose work illustrates the hybridization of political commentary and literary performance in a moment of intense ideological transformation.
