Vittorio Alfieri is one of the foremost writers of epigrams in 18th-century Italy: his production, composed over a twenty-year period, includes more than 210 epigrams, collected by the author both in the first and second part of the “Rime” and in the “Misogallo”. This essay retraces chronologically the stages of this production, examining its evolution from a thematic and metrical point of view and examining the theoretical reflections on epigrams that can be found in the ‘Vita’ and in other works by Alfieri.

Vittorio Alfieri è uno dei maggiori epigrammisti del Settecento italiano: la sua produzione, composta nell’arco di un ventennio, comprende più di 210 epigrammi, raccolti dall’autore sia nella Parte prima e Seconda delle "Rime" sia nel "Misogallo". Il saggio ripercorre cronologicamente le tappe di questa produzione, esaminandone l’evoluzione sotto il profilo tematico e metrico ed esaminando le riflessioni teoriche sull’epigramma rintracciabili nella “Vita” e in altre opere di Alfieri.
