This book is articulated through two approaches conceived simultaneously and which both deal with a new type of political organization territorial (BCN/CAT) dense polynuclear geography (Catalonia) and a large multi-urban reality (Barcelona) and proposes a new relational logic m(is closer to the configurations of the new large European city-regions than to the old idea of conventional territory-state) that could constitute an unusual solution - but hypothetically possible- for the regional integration in general and the Catalan specificity, in particular. The thesis supported in both articles is that throughout their history, Catalonia and Barcelona have emerged as two key scenarios destined to intertwine cosmopolitan circuits, networks, knots and crossroads and where the idea of a network has ended up being fundamental in the evolution of their respective (and linked) developments, by combining plural, productive and cultural structures, but also economic, heritage and natural ones.
