In this study, we used historical distribution data, SDMs, NDVI and land-cover patterns to unravel the relative role of climate and vegetation changes in determining the distribution of S. ligustica, an endemic species, growing in sunny pseudo-garrigues on ophiolitic outcrops in the Eastern Liguria (Italy). Our results show that S. ligustica currently occurs in different climatic conditions than in the past. The discrepancy between the current distribution modelled based on past distribution and the observed current distribution suggests a shift in the realized niche over time.

Abstract
In this study, we used historical distribution data, SDMs, NDVI and land-cover patterns to unravel the relative role of climate and vegetation changes in determining the distribution of S. ligustica, an endemic species, growing in sunny pseudo-garrigues on ophiolitic outcrops in the Eastern Liguria (Italy). Our results show that S. ligustica currently occurs in different climatic conditions than in the past. The discrepancy between the current distribution modelled based on past distribution and the observed current distribution suggests a shift in the realized niche over time.File in questo prodotto:
