The article presents the design of the Web Dev Challenge, a gamified learning framework supported by Generative AI and prompt-based learning. Created for a university web programming course, and implemented within a formal classroom setting, the challenge combined weekly coding tasks in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with guidance from an AI-powered virtual tutor. Game elements such as star ratings, bonus points, and progression rules were integrated with activities aimed at developing prompt literacy. The design aimed to enhance technical skills, promote critical thinking, and sustain motivation through structured, autonomous engagement. The article discusses the pedagogical rationale, implementation strategies, and the value of combining GenAI with gamification.
