Abstract

Prerequisites for a good public policy on healthy ageing are to guaran-tee older people a more inclusive society as well as to reduce ageism. This paper focuses on the social dimension of Ageing in Place which has positive effects on both Community Engagement and Intergenerational Relationships. Designing according to this vision can have an impact both on life expectancy, which in addition to being longer must also be healthy, and on social inequality. The social dimension of ageing at home includes equal access to the cultural, political, and economic life of the community. Today, the power of technology supports this tran-sition, facilitating connections and participation. Among all, the world of culture has been a fertile ground for experimenting with new forms of social inclusion, thanks to the intrinsic ability of cultural heritage to connect people and places and reduce the risk of depression. However, there is an urgent need to systematize active participation in cultural and social life from home.
