This monographic issue features an unpublished text on legal obligation by H. L. A. Hart, the correspondence between Bobbio and Hart on the notion of legal obligation, and five essays by Bobbio on Hartian themes translated into English for the first time. The volume also includes two substantial introductory studies, one by each of the editors, which provide critical framing and contextualization. Collectively, these materials shed new light on the intellectual dialogue between two of the most influential figures in twentieth-century legal philosophy and open fresh avenues for contemporary jurisprudential debate.
