Starting from a focus on the Abruzzo, Lazio, and Molise National Park, this chapter aims to discuss the narratives on Italian national parks and how they have contributed to shape the concept of nature in the so-called Bel Paese. In particular, it investigates the ambiguous connection between the ambition to preserve ecosystems and the use of nature as a political tool in the process of constructing national identity in Italy.
