This exploratory study represents a first step in the pragmatic investigation of requests in the diachrony of Italian. It focuses on identifying the various forms that requests can take and analyzing the linguistic resources used to express them, with the goal of proposing a preliminary classification and descriptive typology based on data from the DIADIta corpus. To this end, we extracted all requests from three comedies written at intervals of approximately two centuries and annotated them following the framework by Blum-Kulka, House and Kasper (1989). The article presents some preliminary observations on the diachronic development of strategies for expressing requests and initiates a methodological reflection on the classification and annotation of request acts in a diachronic perspective, laying the foundation for future corpus-based and quantitative studies.
