The EU has focused, through the adoption of a complex regulatory framework starting 2018, on sustainable finance and, more recently, specifically on the fight against “greenwashing”. However, since then, the geopolitical situation has significantly changed and the effects of these changes are already observable. The present contribution aims at discussing, first, greenwashing in investment intermediation from a legal point of view and, then, how the current geopolitical turmoil can affect the legal treatment of the former.

Abstract

The EU has focused, through the adoption of a complex regulatory framework starting 2018, on sustainable finance and, more recently, specifically on the fight against “greenwashing”. However, since then, the geopolitical situation has significantly changed and the effects of these changes are already observable. The present contribution aims at discussing, first, greenwashing in investment intermediation from a legal point of view and, then, how the current geopolitical turmoil can affect the legal treatment of the former.
