Design in the current millennium addresses a planet populated by over nine billion people. Space and resources are at a premium; even the time available to each individual is saturated with commitments and information, often induced and unwanted. Design research is now also addressing aspects that are not strictly material; it seeks to find solutions that can harmonize the experience of use with the time available, considering aspects that extend from the design itself to production and end-of-life as part of the project. This more holistic view of the process leads to considering design as a discipline related to products that are not necessarily physical, but also intangible, services, and dissemination events as an integral part of the design project in the full sense.

Abstract
Design in the current millennium addresses a planet populated by over nine billion people. Space and resources are at a premium; even the time available to each individual is saturated with commitments and information, often induced and unwanted. Design research is now also addressing aspects that are not strictly material; it seeks to find solutions that can harmonize the experience of use with the time available, considering aspects that extend from the design itself to production and end-of-life as part of the project. This more holistic view of the process leads to considering design as a discipline related to products that are not necessarily physical, but also intangible, services, and dissemination events as an integral part of the design project in the full sense.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
