Ruth Zylberman’s investigation of 209, rue Saint-Maur, a large Parisian building, led her to reconstruct the history of a community of residents using the tools of investigative work. Somewhere between historical narrative and sociological reconstruction, her research took her abroad, where she tracked down former residents who were now elderly, and to several national and international archives, where she gradually found the pieces of her immense jigsaw puzzle. The meetings and interviews form the essential core of the book, enabling her to trace past events and forge new links between people. They also reveal an ethical attitude on the part of the author, who places herself at the service of the witnesses she calls upon.

Abstract
Ruth Zylberman’s investigation of 209, rue Saint-Maur, a large Parisian building, led her to reconstruct the history of a community of residents using the tools of investigative work. Somewhere between historical narrative and sociological reconstruction, her research took her abroad, where she tracked down former residents who were now elderly, and to several national and international archives, where she gradually found the pieces of her immense jigsaw puzzle. The meetings and interviews form the essential core of the book, enabling her to trace past events and forge new links between people. They also reveal an ethical attitude on the part of the author, who places herself at the service of the witnesses she calls upon.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
