The paper purports to offer an account of Kelsen's theory of legal norms from his general theoretical earlier 1934 work up to the posthumous General Theory of Norms, passing through the 1960 edition of The Pure Theory of Law. It considers, in turn, the whole variety of primary and secondary norms, permissive norms, authorizarion or competence norms, and derogatory norms.
