This volume brings together the most significant outcomes of the educational programme carried out during the 2024–2025 academic year within the PhD Programme in Law at the University of Genoa, devoted to the overarching theme Denied Rights, Betrayed Law. It includes revised versions of lectures, seminars and conference papers presented as part of the programme, as well as, above all, the papers prepared by the PhD candidates, who actively participated in the educational activities specifically designed for them by delivering structured presentations or serving as discussants. The volume is divided into six sections: I. The Rule of Law Tested by Contemporary Transformations; II. Emerging Rights: Between Care Needs and Algorithmic Decision-Making; III. Security and Preventive Measures versus Diminished Rights; IV. The Right to Silence and Its Exceptions; V. Threatened Rights: Climate Change and the Environment; VI. Places of Detention and Denied Rights.
