In the presented work, samples belonging to the filled skutterudite system Ndy(FexNi1 - x)4Sb12 were studied as thermoelectric materials. This system is interesting due to the presence ofa large cavity in the centre of the unit cell, which can host a large ion, called filler, able to strongly vibrate, thus reducing the phonon contribution to thermal conductivity. The synthesized samples were studied with a variety of techniques of structural and thermoelectric characterization. What resulted from this study is that Nd appears as an optimal filler, allowing for a high occupancy of the cavity, and a strong suppression of thermal conductivity, which results in a maximum ZT of ~1 for p-type compositions and ~0.5 for n-type ones.
