Anzi: dalla realtà eventiva all’interazione

The article considers recent trends in the evolution of the Italian marker anzi in relation to the notion of “intersubjectification”, defined as “the development of meanings that encode speaker/writers’ attention to the cognitive stances and social identities of addressees” (Traugott, 2003: 124). The hypothesis of a structural correlate of such a development is discussed against the positioning of anzi at the right periphery of the utterance and its bearing features close to the properties of final particles (in the sense of Hancil et al., 2015).
