Graphene and its derivatives, such as reduced graphene oxide (RGO) possess excellent mechanical properties and outstanding thermal and electrical conductivity. These nanoparticles offer a wide range of possibilities for applications in the oil and gas industry. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of RGO/graphite additions on the properties of anti-corrosion paints. The nanocoating of epoxy containing 0.0 wt-% and 0.5 wt-% of RGO/graphite was submitted to immersion corrosion tests with saline solution. Also, cyclic corrosion tests for 4.200 h, including neutral salt fog, accelerated weathering, and freezing conditions were carried out. The epoxy paint with RGO/graphite suffered severe deterioration in both the immersion and cyclic corrosion tests. The results from the present study demonstrate the amount of decay suffered by the epoxy coating with the added nanoparticles of RGO/graphite.
