«Rituales del desarraigo». Dibaxu de Juan Gelman en la puesta en escena de Hugo Aristimuño: de la intimidad a la política

Dibaxu (‘below’) is a collection of Judeo-Spanish poems that Juan Gelman wrote in the early eighties while already in exile and published in 1994. Inspired by the poems and life of the Argentine poet, the playwright Hugo Aristimuño stages a play with the same title. Dibaxu is what lies beneath and, therefore, the key to investigating the poet’s inner turmoil and anguish during the exile caused by the Argentine dictatorship. The script was created by gathering Gelman’s verses and pulling phrases from his inter- views. Its goal was to paint a literary and human portrait of the author and, by drama- tizing his nightmares, obsessions, and suffering, honor the generation that endured the brutality of the civil-military dictatorship.
