The aim of this paper is to identify new instances of correspondences between the drawings in the Codex Escurialensis and the architectural sculptures in the courtyard of La Calahorra. Starting with a systematic review of the studies published on the subject, firstly Sebastián’s study, Antikisierende Motive der Dekoration des Schlosses La Calahorra bei Granada (1960), and then comparing it with the writings of Kruft, Fernández Gómez and León Coloma, the essay aims to identify the Roman works of ancient art that are represented in the courtyard of Granada through the mediation of the drawings in the Codex Escurialensis. Egger’s 1905 monograph, Codex Escurialensis: Ein Skizzenbuch aus der Werkstatt Domenico Ghirlandajos, and Bober-Rubinstein’s 1986 volume, Renaissance Artists and Antique Sculpture: A Handbook of Sources, are the points of reference from which we start with the publication of an unprecedented sampler of comparisons, which allows us to increase the number of obvious visual links between the Codex Escurialensis and the courtyard of La Calahorra.

Abstract
Egger’s 1905 monograph, Codex Escurialensis: Ein Skizzenbuch aus der Werkstatt Domenico Ghirlandajos, and Bober-Rubinstein’s 1986 volume, Renaissance Artists and Antique Sculpture: A Handbook of Sources, are the points of reference from which we start with the publication of an unprecedented sampler of comparisons, which allows us to increase the number of obvious visual links between the Codex Escurialensis and the courtyard of La Calahorra.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
