Migration Literature and/as World Literature. An Evaluation of Different Approaches to the Relationship between Them

This contribution sheds light on the connections between migration literature and world literature from a theoretical and methodological point of view, with a focus on terminology and the research undertaken in both fields. “Migration literature” has been defined in various ways, and different languages use different terms (such as Migrationsliteratur, littérature migrante, letteratura migrante, post-migrant writing). The article analyses these different terms and explores their varying meanings according to the literary fields (and their histories) that they refer to. Based on these discussions, I evaluate research on the nexus between world and migration literature from the point of view of scholars from the two different fields and highlight the gaps and blind spots of this relationship that need our attention.
