Il nuovo volto dell’interior yacht design

Some decades ago, the norms of nautical design saw spaces, furnishings and objects articulated according to technical-functional needs that remained unchanged over the years. However, the cultural and social transformations that have occurred over the last twenty-five years have now opened up new scenarios in interior yacht design. Through evaluation of innovative design practices, this contribution analyses the change in interactions between environments and product-furniture on board. Paying particular attention to the links between domestic and nautical environments, this paper outlines the evolution of living on board, recognising certain objects as symbolic mediators that reflect such a lifestyle.
