The article deals with the liability of the italian State for infringements of national and Eu law by national courts. After an overview of the different regimes that were applied overtime, moving from liability of the judge to liability of the State, the article discusses the most relevant issues in this area, such as the scope of State liability, rules on jurisdiction, recoverable damages, the right to of the State to contribution from judges, and loint and several liability within panels of judges. All issues are discussed from different point of views: procedural, substantial, Eu law and national law
