This article reconstructs an imaginary geography of the Spanish capital through the gaze of Ramón Gómez de la Serna, a central figure of the early twentieth-century avant-garde. Starting from the metaphor of a stone thrown into Puerta del Sol, generating concentric waves, the authors trace an itinerary that expands from the city’s beating heart to symbolic places such as Plaza Mayor, Gran Vía, El Retiro and finally to the peripheral Ciudad Lineal. This Ramonian map highlights the tensions and contradictions of early twentieth-century Madrid: the dialogue between tradition and modernity, the alternation of intimacy and worldliness, the dialectic between aridity and water as symbols of life and memory. What emerges is a paradoxical, secret and multifaceted city that, in Gómez de la Serna’s writings, becomes at once protagonist, setting and metaphor of an aesthetic experience aimed at grasping the unexpected and transforming reality into literature.
