Τρέπω/Στρέφω nei poemi omerici: spunti di riflessione dagli etimologici bizantini e dai papiri

This paper discusses an unacknowledged Homeric quotation (transmitted by several Byzantine etymologica) that was intended to exemplify a rare iterative aorist, τρέψασκον. Although this reading was almost completely discarded by the medieval ‘vulgate’, which preferred the synonym στρέψασκον, an investigation of analogous variant readings in Homeric poems shows that it may well be ancient and should at least be included in the apparatus ad loc.
