I valori contano? Una ricerca sui comportamenti pro-ambientali nella città di Roma

This study investigates the relationship between the individual values and the pro-environmental behaviors, as they are actions beneficial for the natural environment. In the literature the pro-environmental behaviors can be classified according to the amount of knowledge required to act correctly. Empirical findings show that the young age and the high degree of education influence a wide range of pro-environmental behaviors, especially those that do not require specific knowledge to be activated. The relationship between the individual values and the eco-sustainable action is robust when the pro-environmental behaviors require uncommon knowledge to act without errors. The differentiation and the conferment of household waste is inquired by this study; it is a very demanding pro-environmental behavior that requires both the environmental knowledge and the values of ecocentrism.
