The present study, based on ongoing research on desistance from crime on 32 adults conducted through unstructured interviews (FANI – Free Association Narrative Interview), following an approach inspired by narrative and psychosocial criminology, evaluates the quality of the desistance process in ten subjects, with trauma in childhood and onsent of delinquency before 18, with reference to the quality of the desistance process. The work offers a first illustration of the relationships between trauma, criminal career and the peculiarities of the output, describing in detail the characteristics and outcomes with reference to three exemplary subjects. The detailed case histories and the comparison between them allow for a deeper understanding of the complexity of each path and can serve as a stimulus for further quantitative research.
