The essay investigates about the transformation of the beylical regime in Tunisia in Monarchy. The process is deeply driven by foreign states (especially France) which de facto restrict the sovereignty of the country. Building on this framework, special attention will be devoted to the analysis of several events which represent pivotal acts of constitution-making: the establishment of Beylical regime, the experience of the liberal Constitution of 1861, the establishment of the French Protectorate, the authoritarian post-independence Constitution of 1959.

Abstract

The essay investigates about the transformation of the beylical regime in Tunisia in Monarchy. The process is deeply driven by foreign states (especially France) which de facto restrict the sovereignty of the country.
