The 2024 excavation campaign conducted by the University of Genoa at VII 14, 2 and VII 14, 8 has clarified the occupational sequence and functional evolution of this sector from the late Republican period to AD 79. At VII 14, 2, an earlier artisanal phase dating to the third quarter of the first century BC revealed vats, a well, and traces of a wooden press, closely corresponding to those of the later workshop and indicating continuity of productive use. These installations are consistent with the processing of animal skins, possibly for parchment production. At VII 14, 8, late Republican infrastructural and storage features were later reorganized into a structured commercial space, with further modifications after the earthquake of the AD 60s.

Abstract
The 2024 excavation campaign conducted by the University of Genoa at VII 14, 2 and VII 14, 8 has clarified the occupational sequence and functional evolution of this sector from the late Republican period to AD 79. At VII 14, 2, an earlier artisanal phase dating to the third quarter of the first century BC revealed vats, a well, and traces of a wooden press, closely corresponding to those of the later workshop and indicating continuity of productive use. These installations are consistent with the processing of animal skins, possibly for parchment production. At VII 14, 8, late Republican infrastructural and storage features were later reorganized into a structured commercial space, with further modifications after the earthquake of the AD 60s.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
