Holmes’ legal philosophy offered in a recent volume by Paola Chiarella, the article focuses on the connection between the critique of legal formalism and evolutionism in the Holmesian work. Furthermore, the paper highlights the different interpretations of the Holmesian legacy that important authors such as Cardozo, Dewey, Pound and the American realists have developed.
