Between the last years of the Eighteenth century and the early years of the following century, the authorities of the Ligurian Republic and those of the French Empire carried out several demographic surveys. The cooperation of parish priests and mayors thus made it possible to collect data on the demographic situation of the various settlements. Despite gaps and inaccuracies, these estimates allow an analysis of the state of Ligurian population between the end of independence and the years of direct French control. Through the analysis of government publications and archival documents, this article therefore presents data relating to Eastern Liguria, with particular attention also given to the evolution of the administrative division of territory.

Abstract
Between the last years of the Eighteenth century and the early years of the following century, the authorities of the Ligurian Republic and those of the French Empire carried out several demographic surveys. The cooperation of parish priests and mayors thus made it possible to collect data on the demographic situation of the various settlements. Despite gaps and inaccuracies, these estimates allow an analysis of the state of Ligurian population between the end of independence and the years of direct French control. Through the analysis of government publications and archival documents, this article therefore presents data relating to Eastern Liguria, with particular attention also given to the evolution of the administrative division of territory.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
